Priorto the passage of this Act, the salary of the Governor was $4,000; of a Judge of the Supreme Court $3,501) ; of a Judge of the Superior Courts $-2,500; of the Reporter of the do- elslons of tho Supreme Court $1,000; of the Secretary of State $1,600; of the State Treasurer $1,600; of the Comnptrollor (eneral $1,600; of the Surveyor General (whose oflice is now cvn- solidated with the offlce of Secretary of State,) $1,600. Heretofore the Secretaries of the Ex. ecutive Department had no fixed salaries, but their pay was appropriated annually, which, for several years past. had been $1,250 per annum. Under the operations of this Act, two of the three Judges of the Supreme Court will contin- ue to receive till the expiration of their present terms of oflice, each $3,500 per annumn, while the other one, elected at the present ession since the passage of the above Act, will i eceive as his salary only $2,000 per annui'. In the same way, twelve of the Judges of tihe Superior Courts who were in office when the Act was passed, will each receive $2,500 per annom, till the end of their respective terms. while the four who were appointed since the passage of the act, will each receive only $1,500 per annum.
