An Act to amiend the several Laws now in force in relation to free
persons of color, and to exonerate and discharge certain free per-
s!ons of eolor from all pains, penalties and fonfitures heretofore
incurred, and to which they are suljeet and liable.
13. SEcTioN I. Be it enactled by the Senate and House of' Re-
presentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met,
and it is hereby enacted b)y the authority of the same, That all Freepersons
free persons of color who were residing in this State on the firstoefcolor.
day of January, eighteen hundred and forty-nine, and have been fscuento

14. SECTION II. Be it further enacted by the authority afore-
said, That if any free negro of the age of fourteen years shall here-
after neglect to have his or her name registered agreeable to law,
he or she shall not be compelled to depart this State, but shall Defauter 14
nevertheless be subject to be arrested, tried, convicted and fined,ecto inub

15. SECTION III. Be it further enacted by the authority afore-
