4. Sita. IV. Be it further enacted, It shall be the duty of the

5. SEC. V. Be it fi_-ther enacted, That if any person or persons
whatsoever, shall, by force, or otherwise, oppose any Patrol coin-
paniy, or inenber of any company, whilst engaged in the discharge
of their legitimate duties, or shiall prevent or endeavor to proventOpposing

other place where it may be supposed or suspected that any negroso

Court for a nisdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
fined by said Court in a sum    not exceeding Fifty Dollars. And
that this law shall be enforced only on application of the citizens
of the different Patrol Districts as hereinbefore arrangned.
6. SEc. VI. [-]   And be it further enacte(l, That tie provisions
of the Act passed the 18th of' November, 1705, regulating Patrols certain
in this State, and all other Acts subsequent to that time in relation Counties ex-
to Patrols, are continued in full force, except so far as they con-    t
flict with this Act; Provided, That the provisions of this Act
shall not extend to the counties of Bulloch, Hall, Carroll, Dade,
Raban, and Hart-and       that all laws and parts of laws     imili-
tating against this Act be and the same are hereby repealed.*

The 44th section of the Act of 1770, Cobb 981 and note which allowed n Patrol, when
sued for killing a slave, to give that Act in evidence under the general issue, was re-

7. SEoON I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and
it is hereby enacted by the aui'hority of the same, That the child-
ren, not exceeding five years of age, of any woman slave, and such
