An Act, to protectect die citizens of this State from danger, hy
the running at large of lunatic and insane slaves or free per-
sons of color. Approved, January 17, 185'.
1. Swpriox I. Be it cfacte(l by the Senate and fouse of
J)resentatives of the State of  Gt'orgia in General A8-
sembly met, and it i bcreby eoned by the authority of the
c ca s'ene, That upon      the, apl)lication of any person, under
orfatemon oath, setting Iortli that any inanue or lunatic slave, or free
be oretn person of color is running at large, and is a public nuisance,
6otpaint. or dangerous to the public, the Justices of the Inferior Court
of the county shall issue a warrant, directed to the Sheriff;
Deputy Sheriff, or any Constable of said county, requiring
hiin to bringe such slave or free person of color before them.
2. SEo. I?. And be it further onacted, That it shall be

of the case, and if it shall appear that such slave or free
prsoi of color in truth is a public nuisanice, or that his or

3. Sua. Ill. And ho it further enacted, That when any
neowttorslave shall be committed to jail, by and under the second
Sot.   section of this Act, it shall be at the cost of the owner of
said slavo ; and the Justices aforesaid shall, in their order
Jndgmnnt  of conInitinents, (rive judgment against the owner for the
therefor,  cost of the proceeeings, to be collected by execution, in the
