An Act to repeal all laws respecting the importation of slaves into this State, and to give certain powers to municipal corporations in relation to slaves. 1849-1850 374 (1849)

person or persons so offending shall be guilty of a high mis-
demeanor, and upon indictment, trial and conviction therefor,
shall be fined in a sum not exceeding filty dollars or im-
prisoned in the conimon jail of' the county for any time
not exceeding three months, or both, at the d iscrction of the
Court; and the person so arresting and delivering to the
Jailor of any county any runaway slave or slaves shall be
entitled to five dollars for each slave so delivered ip, the
same to be paid over to the Jailor by the owner atlsaid slive
or slaves, his or her agent, whenf said slave or slaves are de-
livered up, the same to he paid over to the person so arrest-
ing and delivering up as afbresaid.
SECTiON 2. And be it firither enacted, That all laws and
parts of laws militating against this act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.

AN ACT to amend an ne. pased December 29th, IS38, to
define and aiIlix the punishimeat of a crime or nisdenican-
or connitted by a slave by the counsel, perstoision or
procurement or other means of free white persons.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and louse qf Rep-
rcstntatices of the State of Guorgua in Gencral Asseni/y met,
and it is hereby enicted b!y the anikority ajoresaid, That
if any fre white pwrson or per11isshall attempt to procure
a slave or slaves to coainit a ci-ime or misdereani ior by
counsel. persuasion, bribery, or th tree, or other maaits, such
free white person or persons shall be prsecuteId fur suich at-
tempt, and if found guilty shall incur the same punishrient
as if such free white person or persons had ultteipted to
commit the said crane or misdemeanor which ie, she or
they attempted to procure the said slave or slaves to commit.
SECTION L. Ain he it frithcr evacteui, That all laws or
parts of laws milittting against this act, be rind the same are
hereby repeale(1.
