An Act to alter and amend an act entitled an act to incorporate the town of Thomaston, and to make permanent the seat of Justice in the county of Upson. 1845 108 (1845)

conts; for each head of cattle, two cents; for each head of
shep, hogs or goats, two cents; for each one horse wagon or
cart, tventy-five cots. Provided, That the citizens of said
comity, and all preachers of the gospel, shall be allowed to pass
toll-froe.
S eC. 10. And be it frther enacted by the authority a/ore-
sid, That said Turnpike shall be commenced within one year
aftr the passage of this act, and be finished within two years
thereafter, and when finished shall vest in said company a per-
ianent right for the term of thirty years thereafter.
Sic. 11. And be it fierther enacted by the authority q/orc-
said, That said comIany shall not collect toll until they have
obtained a certificate from the Inferior Court of Rabun county
that said road is built agreeable to the true intent and nicaning
of this act, and have published their rate of toll at each gate.
Scc. 1-2. And be it /arther cnacted by the authority ajbue-
said. That all tolls shall be paid at the first gate, at which gate
lie, she or they shall receive a receipt, which shall entitle them
to pass through the other gate free of toll.
Si c. 13. And be it Jurther cnacted bY the authority afor'c-
said, That the private property of the stockholders is bound
for the debts of the company, and in the event that the stock,
or any portion thereof, be transfered, that the private property
of the individanl transfering such stock shall he liable for all
contracts made previous to the date of said transfer ; and said
company shall not be entitled to demand toll until said road
is so graded as not to ascend or deseend more than one foot in
eight; and VhenVcr it shall appear that the said road is not
agreenble to the true intent and spirit of this act, the Sheriff of
the county of Robun shall he authorized, by the Inferior Court
of said county, to throw open said gates until said road is so re-
paired.
Sm. 11. A lnd be it furthcr enacted by the authority aforc-
s'aid, That all laws and parts of laws militating against this
act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

ther to define the duties and powers of the Commissioners
of said towne.
