one of their body, who shall act as Mayor pro tern., and who
shall exercise the powers of the Mayor of said city during his
absence.
SEC. 7. Be it filt/u'r enacted biy the  //OTry (fforeSaid,
'That no vote, resolution, or order of said Mayor and Council,
fr the payment of money, or fbr the performance of any act
or measure involving an amount exceeding the sum of three
hundred dollars, except the regulcr and current expenses of the
citv, shall be of fbrce and offect, unless it be by the act of a ma-
jority of the whole Board at two successive meetings thereof:
which said vote, iesolution or order, shall be published in one
or more of the public gazettes of Columbus, between its first
and second passage.
Sze. S. And be it further enacted, That all laws and
parts of laws militating against this act, be and they are here-
by repealed.

AN ACT to prescribe the manner of holding elections in the
county of Chatham, and the charter elections of the city of
Savannah.
SucIox 1. Be it enacted by the Sen te and House of Rep-
resentatires of the State of Georgia, in General Assembly met,
(ad it is hereby enacted by the authority of the samne, That from
and after the passing of this act, the Justices of the Inferior
Court, or a majority of them, shall superintend all elections in
the county of Chatham, for the election of Governor, members
of Congress, members of the General Assembly, Electors of
President and Vice President, and County Oficers, and also all
Charter 'lections in the city of Savannah, for Mayor and Al-
dermen of the said city.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted by the authority afore-
said, That all laws and parts of laws militating against this
act, be and the same are hereby repealed.
