the same are hereby repealed. -

AN ArCT to refund to James Merion, a free person of color,
of tihe county of Jeflerson, the amount of taxes illegally
paid by him for the year 1843.
WH1EREAS taxes were required of James lcrion, a free per-
son of color of the county of Jefferson, who is under the
age of twenty-one years, and not subject to taxation, and
said taxes have been illegally collected :-Therefore,
SEc. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of erecnta-
lives of the State of Gcorgia, in General Assembly met, and it is
hereby enacted by the authority oJf the same, That his Excel-
loncy the Governor be, and lie is hereby requested and in-
structed to draw his warrant on the contingent fund in favor
of Thomas H. Gorden, fbr the sum of live dollars, to refund
the amount of taxes illegally assessed and collected of said
James Merion.

AN ACT to repeal the first and second sections of an act
entitled an act to authorse the Inferior court or Bibb
county, to levy an extra tax fbr the purposes of building
a Jail, and for the support of invalid paupers, passed De-
cember the 29th, 1836, and also, to amend the above re-
cited act as will authorise the Justices of the Inferior court
of Bibb county to levy and collect an extra tax for county
purposes, and also, an extra tax for the support of inva-
lid paupers.
Sr~c. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
tatives of ite State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it
is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the first
and second sections of the above recited act, be and the same
are hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it fuirther enacted, That the said Justices of
the Inferior court of Bibb county, be and they are hereby
authorised to levy an extra tax for county purposes, on the
inbabitantsi of said county subject to taxation, which shall
not excecd forty per cent. on the State tax.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said J ustices of
the Inferior court of said Bibb county, are hereby autho-
rised to levy an extra tax on the inhabitants of said county
