division of the Penal Code.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and
after the passage of this act, the forty-third section of the
fourth division of the Penal Code, shall be in the words fol-
lowing, to wit:-An assault with intent to murder, by using
any weapon likely to produce death, shall be punished by
imprisonment and labor in the Penitentiary, for a term not
less than two years, nbr longer than ten years.

stolen goods from negroes or free persons of color.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and
it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and
after the passage of this act, if any free white person or per-
sons, shall buy or receive any money, goods, chattels, or
other effects, from any negro or free person of color that has,
or have been stolen, or feloniously taken-knowing the same
to have been so stolen or feloniously taken-such person or
persons so offending, shall be taken, and deemed to be ac-
cessory, or accessories, after the fact, and being convicted
thereof, shall receive and suffer the same punishment as
would have been inflicted on such person or persons, had he
or they been convicted of stealing, or feloniously taking the
same.
