LOUR.
AN ACT to amend the twenty-ninth section of an act
entitled An Act for Ordering and Governing Slaves
within this Province, and for establishing a jurisdiction
for the trial of offences committed by such slaves and
other persons therein mentioned, and to prevent the in-
veigling and carrying away slaves from their masters,
owners or employers, passed 10th May 1770.
Whereas the twenty-ninth section of said act does not
make it penal with free persons of colour to harbour, con-
ceal or entertain any slave, who may be a runaway, but
merely inflicts a fine on such free persons of colour: for
remedy thereof-
SEc. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re-
presentatives of the State of Georgia in General .Assembly
met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
That from and after the passage of this act, all free persons
of colour within this State who shall harbour, conceal or
