man slave, in extinguishing the fire on the State-house, was
authorized and required to purchase said negro Sam of
his owner for the purpose of his emancipation; and his pur-
chase having been effected-
Be it therefore enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly
met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same,
That from and immediately after the passage of this act, said
negro man Sam, formerly the property of John Marler, be,
and he is hereby emancipated and set free; and that he enjoy
all the privileges and immunities given by the laws of this
State to free persons of colour in such manner as if he were
born free,-any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the State of Georgia in General Assenbli met, That from and
after the passage of this act, Fanny Hickman, who is, and has
been for more than thirty years, the wife of Paschal Iickman
of the county of Burke, shall be, and she is hereby declared to
be free, and entitled to all the privileges find immunities ap-
pertaining to free persons of colour generally in this State.
And whereas the said Paschal Hickman since his inter-
marriage with his said wife Fanny has had several children,
