AN ACT to authorise the Justices of the Inferior court of
Burke county, to levy a tax on persons liable to road duty
in; sai county, in order to repair and keep in repair, their
public roa(us.
He it ennaced bY Ike Senate and House of Hele-
sentaftires of the State of Georgia in Genteral Assembly net,
and it is herciby enaded by the anlhority of' the same, That
for the pu rpose of repairing and keeping in repair the public
roads in Burke county ; the justices of the inferior court of
that county shall be and they are herchy authorited, if in
their opinioln it is the wish of a niajority of those who nre
liable, and of the owners of slaves hiable to work on the roads
of, sail county, to levy a tax o' one dollar, annually, oil caci
hanil lible to perform road duty in said county ; Provided,
Tf:u eacl huind o whom a tax is so levied, shall he exefipt
from the performance of ordinary road duty for one year,
from the proper time of paying any road tax levied under au-
thority of this act.
And le it furdler enacted, That the tax collectors of Eurko
counlty, shall be deemed honud under their official bonds, as
well as muider this law, to collect anl pay over to the  ifinrior
court or their order, any rond tax imposed nder this act,
under like restriction-, limiatiions and provihions, and for
like compleisaliol, with those which relate to the collecling
n1111 payig over of other county taxrs in  nrke.

ce3 iary bond and securiity-Provided, That tle inferior court
shall first appoint commhllission(ers from different sectiolns of
the county, to examinie tle roads and report on their respect-
ive claimi and tihe best plan of operations.
