AN ACT to establish an Infirmary for the relief and pro-
tection of aged and afflicted negroes, in the State of'Geor-
gia.
Wherens, Thomas F. Williams late of Chatham county
d(wetsed, did by his last Will and Testment, make therein
certain bequests to the first incorporated body flor the estab-
lishmonte of an Infirmary, within the State of Georgia, for
the relief and protection of aged nt( afflictedznegroes, resi-
dents of ti State of Georgia-And whereas, no such In-
corporation liath iluatof'ore bcen created, and the establish-
mient of such a hody is calculated to subserve the cause of
humnoiinity, and may be an inducoment to the exercise [of]
similar benovolence in others.
Be it therefor, enacrld by the Senate and House of Repre-
r(presentalires oj' the State of Georgia in General Asscbly
wi(l, and it is herby enaeled by the auhority of the same, That
Jacob Wood of Il cintosh county, Rev. U. C. Jones of Lib-
erty couty, James Barnard of Camden county, Thomas
Clay of Bry'nn couitv, Rev. James [Joseph] C. Stiles of
lvIntosh coInty, Rlicharld F. Williams, Richard M. Wil-
liams, l'hioozer II. Williams, Rev. C. B. Jones, Abraham
Harinim, F. 1I. Stone, Patrick Houston, Edward Bourquin,
David E. Adams and Thomas F. Williams, all of Chathain
couity, anl their successors he, and they are hcrehy consti-
tuted and appointed a body corporate to be located iii the
county of Chatham, under the name of the Georgia Infirma-
ty fhr the relief and protection of aged and afflicted negroes.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid,
That the said Jacob Wood of McIntosh county, Rev. C. C.
Jones of Iiberty county, James Barnard ofCamnden county,
Thomas Clay of Bryan county, rev. Joseph C. Stiles of
Mcintosh county, iRichard F. Williams, Richard Al. Wil-
lianw, Ebenezer II. Williams, Rev. C. B. Jones, Aialian
Harman, F. Af. Stone, Patrick Ioustown, Edward Bour-
quin, David E. Adams and Thomas F. Williams, all of
Chatham county, and their successors, or a majority ofI tinem
shall on the first Monday in January ensuing the passing of
this act, and on the first Monday in overy Jamary therea-
ter, proceed to elect by hallot, a President, Vice President,
Secretary and Treasurer, the last of who shall give secu-
