law directs, and no longer.
Sec. 3. /Ind be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, Thkat
all laws and parts of Jaws, militating against this act, be and they are
hereby repwaled.

To incorporate the town of Covington in N ew ton County.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the State of Georgia in Gencral dssCIblY met, and it is hereby
enacted by the anuthority of the same, That liurrel Matthew:,, Cary
Wood, William D. Conyers, Richard S. Shaw kiefOrd, and Richard
Sims, are hereby appointed commissioners of said town, and shall con-
tinue in office until successors are elected according to the provisions
of this act.
See. _. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That
on the first Moinday in January next, and on the first Monday in eve-
ry year thereafter, all the free male citizens of the said town, who
shall have given in their taxable property, and who shall be entitled
to vote for oembers to the general assembly, shall assemble at the
court-house in said town, and by ballot elect five commissioners, who
shall continue in office for one year, and until successors are elected,
at which election any two of the juastices of the inferior court, or two
of thejustices of the peace of said county shall preside ; and in.case
