An Act to alter and amend the Road Laws for the county of Glynn. 1822 97 (1822)

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars be, and the same is hereby appro-
priated to carry the above recited section into eftect.

AN ACT
To alter and amend the Road Laws for the county of Glynn, ptsdel
the twenty.lifth December, eighteen hundred,and twenty-one.
B3 it eaacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by
the authority of the same, That From and after the passing of thi
act, that John Harris and William Pills be added to the Board of
Commissioners for said county.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by the authority afbresaid, That
all male slaves subject to road duty in the county Wynn shall work on
the public road in said county under the direction of said board, and
be apportioned as they or a majority of them may think proper for the
improvenient of said roads.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted by the authority aforegaid, That
in case of the owner or owners, manager or manag'ers refusing to send
their slaves so subject, at the time and pla.e so appointed for working
said roads, shall pay for each and every slave the sum of seventy-five
cents per day for such neglect or refusal : except the inhabitants of
the islands of St. Simons und Jekyl, whose owners or managers shall
pay for each slave so subject, the sum of fifty cents per day.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That
the corniissioners aforesaid shall cause the slaves to be returned at
least five days before the day of working said roads, and shall not work
more than six days in the year,and that said cominissioners,and a ma-
jority of them be authorised to employ one tit and proper person as an
overseer for each and every twenty hands while working oin said
roads, and shall have full iuwver to contract for the building and re-
pairing bridges and all other duties necessary to have performed upon
saiW roads, in timIe f vacation, mAt to be paid ou, of any monies ta'
longing to said evads.
