I qf4. Ind be it farther enacted by the aiuthority aforesaid, That IP
any person or persons leasing or renting any lot or lots, tenement or
tenements, within the City of Darien or the precincts thereof, shall
.fail to pay the rent at the time the same shall become due, and shall
refuse to deliver possession to the leasor at the ex piration of his
lease, it shall and may be lawful for the Judge of the Superior Court,
or any of the Justices of the Inferior Court, of the County of M'In-
tody, to issue a writ of possession, directed to the Sheriff or any law-
ful constable of the City of 1)a ien or the precincts thereof, counand-
ing the said Shier iff or constable to deliver possession of the said lot or
-lots, tenement or tenements, to the haid leasor, which shall be by the
said Sheriflor constable forthwith executed and returned.
§   .J1nd be it further Penacted by the authority aforesaid, That all
tontracts for rencs, whether verbal or in writing, shall bear, interest
from the time the same shall become due, any law, usage or custom
to the contrary notwithstandin; and all actions commenced in any
of the Courts within the City of Darien, or the precincts-thereof, for
the recovery of rent in arrear, shall be returnable and tried at the
first term, unless good cause shall be shewn for the continuance there-
of; nor shall any such action be continued mnore than one term at the
instance of either party, any law to tie contrary notwithstanding.
§ 6. Ind be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That all
laws militating against this act be dnd the same are hereby repealed.

AN ACT
To define the duties and authority of the Commissioners of the town
of Washington in Wilkes county.
i. lie it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
lhe State of Georgia, in General Assemubly met,-and it is hereby enact-
ed by the authority of the sane, That live Commissioners, being resi-
dents and freeholders within the corporate limits of said town, shall
be elected by ballot at the usual place of elections for said county, on
the second Monday in January, 1823, and on the second Monday in Janu-
ary in every succeeding year thereafter, by such citizens residing with-
in the said corporate limits, as are entitled to vote for members of the
General Assembly, ten days written notice thereof being given at the
Court-llouse by the'preceding Commissioners or a majority of them,
or by any justice of the Inferior Court or Justice of the Peace for the
county of Wilkes. At which election, any Justice of the Inferior
Court or Justice of the Peace for said county, to-ether with two free:
holders of the said town, not candidates, bhall preside. And if.it
