AN ACT
To make permanent the Site of the Public Buildin'-s for the County
of Walton,at Monroe, and to incorporate tXe same.
WITIIAS, the Commissioners for the County of Walton, appointed by
an act of the Legislature, passed on the 19th day of December, 1818,
did fix on the Site of the Public Buildings in said county, and did ob-
tain part of lot number sixty-five in the third district of Walton, for
county purposes:
§ 1. Be it therefore enaLted bU the Senate and House of Representa.
tives of the State of Georgia, in General Issembly met, and' it is here.
by enacted by the autheritUl of the sane, That the proceedings of the
coifnissioners, so far as respects the purchase, is hereby coulirined and
made valid in law.
§ 2. Judbe itfurther enacted, That the Site of the Public Buildings of
the said County of Walton, shall be and are hereby made permanent at
Monroe.
§ 3. .nd be itfurther enacted by the authority aforesaid, That from
and after the passing of this act, that the following persons, viz: Eli-
sha Betts, Vincent Ilaralson, James West, Thomas Moody and Geo.
W. IInanphries, be and they are hereby appointed Commissioners of
the Town of Monroe, in the County of Walton, and they or a majority
ofthem, shall havo full power to convene at any time After the passage
of this awt, and proceed to the appointment of a Clerk and such other
ofikers as -hey may deem necessary to carry this act into execution.
§ 4. And be it further enacted, That the said commissioners shall
hold their respective appointments hereby given them until the first
Monday in January, one thousand eight hund red and twenty-three, at
which time, and on every subequent year thereafter, the citizens of the
Town of Monroe, entitled to vote for a Member of the General As-
senbly, shall clcose by ballot, five persons to succeed them as cominis-
I.oners of said town, and they are- hereby invested with full power
and authority to make such bye laws and regulations, and to inilict
such pains, penalties and forfeitures, and do .il other incorporato
