To alter and amend the several, road liiws heretofire passed, for
the government of the counties of Bryan, Liberty, M'Intosh;
Camden, Glynn and Wayne, 'so far as respects the county of
Wayne.                       I I
Be it enacted by the Senate and Hlouse qf Representatives of the
State qf Geor-gia, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby e-
vacted by the authority of the same, That from and inintedittely
after the passage of this act, the Justices of the Inferior court for
the county of Wayne shall be, by this act, authoizd and enpow- -
cred to allot and proportion the labor and hands to the several roads
running through. said county, and fill all vacancies.thit inay hap-
pen of comnissioners on the several roads already laid out, and to'
grant petitions for n6ew i'oads, and appoint commissioners for thli
same.
§ 2. And be itfurtheir enacted, That there-shall he three com-
itissioners for each road in said county, whose dety it is to consult
on the most leisuge time of the year, ii their jidgtnient, to meet and
w6rk on their respective ro'ads not more than five days, at any one
time, nor more than ten days in one year--said comnmissioners shall
attend each (lay of working, .afd lay off their respective roads, to
be opened twenty feet wide, and causewayed ten feet wide; said
commissioners shall appoint one overseer to.superintend the labat
to be lone on said road so laid out; said oversee' shall make a.
true return of the laltir done, and of the defaulters to the comnis-.
sioners within three days after each tour of labor is performed.
§ 3. An ,d be it farther enacted, That previous to said meefin,
the coIiinissioners appointed on their several roads shall appoint
a person to warn iii the halinds attached to their several roads, whose
duty it is to varn each free white mill , mulatto, free negro, and
owner of slave or slaves to meet, giving; each of them three days
notice of the day au place of meetinn. a-triiing them to meet at 10
o'loc in the forenooni of that day, carrying with each of them one.
