lot, nor shall exceed three dollars on any one improv-
ed lot ; andi that the tax so directed to be levied, shall
be collected in the ordinary way of collecting taxes, by
execution and sale of said lots, or any other property
owned by the persons owning said lots, giving sixty lays
notice in some public gazette of the time of the sale of
such property
§ 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, militating against this act, be, and the same are
bereby repealed.

AN ACT
For the relief of Anderson Hicks and Jeter Hicks, of
Elbert county.
WHEREAS the said Anderson Hicks and Jeter Hicks,
of said county of Elbert, did some months ago, introduce
into this state. five negro slaves, the property of said An.
derson and Jeter, and have made an er'.:y of them in the
office of the Clerk of the Superior court of said county (if
Elbert, agreeable to the law passed on said subject, pas-
sed the 20th December 1817 ; and whereas the said An.
derson and Jeter Hicks, have by petition siated. that they
are not the owners of anjy real estate, and have petition-
ed for relief from the provisions of said act, and have
prayed that they may be permitted to hire out said slaves;
B   E it therefore enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the State of Georgia in General As.
sembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of
