AN ACT,
To amend an act, entitled an act, to regulate the town of
Lexington, passed on the 24th day of November,
180, and an act to amend the same, passed on the
27th day of November, 1807, and for other purposes.
3 E it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
tatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly
met, and it is enacted by the authority of the same, That
the Commissioners of the said town of Lexington shall
have full power and authority to pass such bye-laws and
regulations as they may deem necessary for imposing and.
collecting a poll tax upon the citizens of said town, and
also a tax upon all property, real and personal, and stock
in trade in the said town-Provided, such poll tax shall
not exceed one dollar, and such tax on property shall not
exceed twelve and a half cents for every hundred dol-
lars value thereof, within the term of one year.
§ 2. And be it farther enacted, That the said Commis-
sioners shall have power and authority to appoint such
oticeris as they may deema necessary for the purpose of
enforcing and collecting any such taxes, in the most sum.
