U                 AN ACT
For regulating and governing free per,
soils of color coming into this State, or
residing therein.
S1. .E it enacted by the Senate and House of Re-
resentatives of the State of Georqgia in General As-
;embly met, and it is hereby enacted by the auithority of
the same, That from and after the first day of March
next, all free persons of color (native Indians ex-
cepted) who shall arrive in this state, rshall within
tendays after his or her arrival therein, except in
a county in which there is a sea-port town, where two
Aays shall be allowed and no more, register his or
her name with the Clerk of the Superior court of
'tle couity in which he or she shall have arrived,
in a book to be kept by the Clerk for that purpose,
~and shall at the same time declare to the said Clerk
his or her occupation or calling, the. place of his or
iter *residence and birth, the place from whence he
or she shall last have come, the object for which
he or she shall. have come into this state, and the
'tiaite of the person or persons in whose employ-
