AN ACT
For the better regulation of Taverrx
and Shop-keepers, and more effec-
tually to prevent their trading with
flaves.
WHEREAS it has been the cuflon with tavern
keepers and retailers of mercbandike, under the
denomination of fhop.keepers, to encourige the
flaves of the citizens of this State, to fell unto them
a quantity of pioviflons and other comardoities, and
in return, to pay unto them fpirituous liquors, &c.
without the confent or licence of the owner, or
ownlers of fuch flave, or flaves, by which the own.
