;is hereby requested to exert himself to have restored to the peo-
ple of Florida the time-honored right of trial by jury, mid the
writof habeas corpus, and that he communicate with Major Gen-
.eral Foster, Commanding the Departnient of Florida, and urge
upon hin to permit all citizens of the State, for offences against
the laws of the same, to be tried through the ordinary courts of
justice, and not by military commission, and that he also send a
copy of this resolution to his Excelletcy,' Andrew Johnson, Pres-
dent of the United States, anl communicate with him upon the
aubject.

towns and other places within the State of Florida, are exert-
ing an injurious influence on tle colored population in creating Romoval of tci-
