That frnt and after the passage of this act, the name or Thomas

the saune is hereby changed to that of Thonas Jefferson Filmer
Johns, and made an heir at law of Archibald Johns.

(ceeding eight dollars per anum  on persons in the County O'
Santa I osa, including slaves and firue persons of' color, who are
stuhject and liable to do and lerfori  road duty by the laws of'
this State, which tax shall lie in lieu of' personal'labor of said
l)ersons on the roads and bridges as is now required by law :
