Charter' r.ectly opposite the mouth of the Wiililacoclhe river, on the East bank of Suwannee, and running up and down suila river the half of one mile, thence Easrwardly for one mile, so as to embrace one section of land, and comprehending tle present town of' C9.1umbus, and their successors be, and they arc lire by declared a body politic und corporate, by tie name and style of the town of Columbus, with all the rights, privilegew, pow. ers, and authority incident and appertaining to, a body corpo- rate and politic, or natural persons, and by that name and stylc way sue and be sued, plead and be inploaded, hold, posses, and enjoy real estates, personal and mixed property, and transfer the same and so dispoe of and manage the funds of said town, as shall he most beneficial to the interests thereof. Sec.2.
