NO. 38.-An Act to incorporate the City of Tallahassec.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted b the Governor and Le.
gislative Council of the Territory of Florida, That
all the free white male inhabitants, over tie age of
twenty-one years, comprehended within Ve section
thirty-six, township one, range [one,] north of the
City limits,  basis parallel, and west of the meridian, in the coun-
ty of Leon, and district of Middle Florida, and their
successors be, and remain a body, corporate, by the
name and style of the City of rTailahassee; and by
Incorporation, their corporate name may sue and be sued, implead
and be impleaded, and do all other acts as natural per-
sons, and may p)urchase and hold real, personal and
mixed property, and dispose of the same for the bene-
fit of the said city.
SEC. 2.1 Be it further enacted, That the govern-
City Council. ment of the said city, shall be vested in a City Coun-
cil, composed of an Intendant and eight Councilmen,
Qualifications each of whom shall have the qualification of being the
ror.      proprietor of a lot; and shall have resided twelve months
within the limits aforesaid, in order to fill either of
said offices.
