AN ACT'
To prevent the bluwaiuision of slaves, in certan Sese in tis TeniioryO
• Be it 'enacted b3 Ae Governor and LegislatIvw Council
fir  of the Teroitory of Florida, That any person or persons
nag  who shall minimmit any slave or slaves, brought intothis
Territory, after the passage of this aci, shall forfeit and
'pay, fdr every slave so p ianutnitted, the sum of two hupt.

Treasury anti the' other half to the person suiig for the
same.
See. 2. Be it further enacted, That any person or
vniUr persons briagitig into this Territory any slave obr slives,
bond, after the passage of this act, and wishing to manumit
him, her or them, such person or persons shall, before
lie grants such.manuinission, give bond with two or more
securities, in a sum equol to the value of such slave or
slaves, to be-approved of by the presiding justice of the
county, in which such.manumission may be' granted-
conditioned for the transportation of every such slave
or sloves beyond the jurisdiction of this Territory, with-
in thir~ty days after the manumission of such slave ok
slaves.
e  See. 3. Be it ftrther enacted, That any slave or slaves
tod   Manimitted, 'contrary to the provisions of this act, shall
to this not be deetned free, but shall be liable to he taken up,
under-an order. from the supeior or county courts, in
the county in which such siave or slave's shall have been
mtnumitted, which order shall be directed to the Mar-
shal or sheriff of the county.

See. 4. Be it further enacted, That it shall be rite
Oflicettosell  duty of the marshal or sheriff; to Whom such'orddr may
be directed, to advertise the.sale of any slave or slaves,
taken up as provided by this act, at least twenty days
previous to the day of sale, and shall proceed and sell
the same for cash, as soon thereafter as lie shall deem
expedient.
Sec. 5. Be it further enacted, That it shall be'the duty
of the mtrsil or sheriff, selling any slave or slaves, for
