To raise a revenue'inthe territory of Florida.
Be it enacted bythIe Governor and Legislative Council
qf the Territory of' Flarida, That al, real and personal
prioperty of every description whatever (except crops
which are growing or have been gathered and housed
for the.support of the aarmily, the plantdtion tools and
necessary household and kitchei utensils, and every
species of poultry owned and held by any person in this
territory on the first day or March ineach and every
year, in his or her own right, or held by any person in
right of another, either as agent, trustee, parent, guar-
dian, executor or administrator, shall be subject to a
tax according to its real value of five cents upon every
hundred dollars worth of property so owned or held as
aforesaid: Provided that no person slAl be required
to give in for taxation the value of any lands, the titles
to which have not been confirmed by the governineit
of the United States, and where two or more persons
claim the same tract or land and the title of the United
States has been relinquished thereto, the person in
possession of said lands slhall give in the same for taxa-
tion.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That every free male
