To provide for taking a census of the populatian of the Trcritory.;
Be it enacted by the Governor andLegislative Coun.
ell of the Territory of' Florida, That it bhall be the du.
ty of the receiverm of tax returns to take a census ofall
the population with 'n thei respective counties.
*           Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the said census
Fiest taken,   shall he taken at the first time in the year eighteen
hundred and twenty five, when the said receivers shall
respectively receive returns of taxable persons or pro.
.perty; and a return of the said census shall be made to
he clerks of the county courts respectively, and dupli.
cates thereof shall be made to the Secretary of the
Territory.
Sec. 3. Be it further enacted, That the following
form and classification shall be used anI1 adopted by
the receivers respectively, in taking the said census,
viz:

Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That hevs of fami-
lies, as contemplated by this act shall be deemed to
be private or public keepers ofdining tables; whether
in boarding houses, private houses or otherwise.
Sec. 5. Be it fJurthcr rnacted, That it shall be the
duty of the said receivers to claim and receive, of all
the heads of families and of other persons as herein-
after described the estimate, which they are required
to furnish.
.Sec. 6. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the du-
ty of heads of families, and persons not belonging to
any particular family to render a true estimate to the
receiver as aforesaid, and if any person shall fail to
make a return of him or herself and family, or, any
part thereof being thereunto requested by the said
