CHAPTER XI.
AN ACT against the firmig of ivood-lanids and the un-
I  seasonablc/firing oj'marshes.
I vol. 07.   Sc. 1. BE IT EN 1CrLD, by the Senate and House of
. -Representatives (f the State of Delaware, in General As-
ing' ovotiI' csembl nut, That if' any person or persons shall set on
or firing non lire any woodland, 0or cause or procure any woodland to
t   rI  May b lie set on fire, or. shall, before the tenth day of March, or
after the first day of May, in any year, set on fire any
marsh, or cause or procure any marsh to be set on fire,
evr'y person so offendin4 shall be deemed guilty of a
misdmeanurand, upon conviction thereof, shall forfeit
and pay to the State a line not less than fifteen dollars nor
exceeding two hundred dollars ; and every such person
shall also be answerable to every person injured by means
or in consequence of the setting of such fire, for all da-
mages on occasion of such injury, to be recovered, with
Proviso.  costs of suit, hy an action on the case. Pr-ovided. that the
buing of wo ad cut down, or of brush-wood or bushes,
upon land, for the purpose of clearing such land, or of
