To increate the comonstition for taking up a runaway
slave.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly
Tnty-Nve  c'onven'd, Thnst from and after the passage of this act the
doll iio a oCompensation for taking up a runaway slave shall be
tivoua ty-five dollars, instead of the amount now allowed
by law. Provided, that this act shall terminate with the
existiqg war.

idsal may1' saie, if the phlintiff would be a competent witness to
prove the correctness of' the demand, under the provi-
sions of section 2313 of' the code, by giving the notice
required by section 2314 of the code, such notice may
be given by filing the same in the office of the clerk, or
register of said court, twenty days before the trial of
said cause.
Sc. 2. Be it further enacted, That the provisions of'
