JOINT RESOLUTTONS
Raising a Committeo to Examine into the Condition of the State
Salt Works.
1. Be it resolved by the Seat wad HoIuse of Representatives of the
State of Alabama in (eneral Assembt, convened, That a joint
commnittoo of the two IHouses, to I composed of five( Senators, and
flour Representatives, le appointed, % whose dutNy it shall hIe to visit
the Salt Works b loniuing to the St ate, as soon as practicable aftet
the expiration ofthe present session, and make a full and complete
investi'tl ion of the manner in which said Salt Works are -arried
on; how much prtperty is owned by the State which is engaged in
Haid business; what amount of, salt is produced per annum, and to
whol Soldt; whether all tile furiacts anid hoilin  power owNIled by
the State ik emiploved in makin salt, anld full and completely ox-
ahline ail investigate 11 matters onneitd w;th said Statl Salt
Works.
Se:c. 2. Ie it further lsiilveu, That said iontinittee are hereby
intiruel iI to inquire how manly  white persoin are engaged a en-

r. 3. Be it further resolved. That si coininittee is hteuv
empowered to seli( for persons and p      anrs nd  re autlhoriz.ed
to administer oaths to any and all pisonits wlo may Le bougit ie-
tore them, to testify toulching ally iatters connected with the v\
aminlationi antd investigation of the condition of said Salt Works.
SEC. 4. Be it further reaolved, That said committee shall report
in writing to the Governor, the result of their investigation, and
the Governor shall transmit the sae to the General Assemily of
the State at its next regular session.
SEc 5. 5.e it further resolved, That the membl'ers of said coim-
ilmittee shall be allowed their actual expenses whilt dischargintg the
