SECTION 1. Be it einacted by the Senate and'House.pr Bej

convened, That all white male persons'between the ages
of sixteen and fifty years shall be liable to work on pub-
lic roads.

age, shall be liable to appointment as overseers of public
roads.

in the Military service from the State of Alabama.
Apnopriaoi.  SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Bel-
resentativesY of the State of Alaba ma in General Assembly
convenet, That the sum of one million of dollars be ad the
same is herebS, appropriated for the support of the indi-
gent families of soldiers who are now in or may hefeafter
enter the military service of the Confederate States from
the State of Alabama, or who may be in the military ser-
vice of this State, to be distributed in the months of Oc-

month, under tile provisions of an act entitled  An act
to provide for the support of the indigent families of sol-
diers in the army of the Confederate States from the State
llrorio    of Alabama, approved 12th November, 1862 : Provided,
That no family of any substitute that has been, is, or shall
