No. 160.]            AN ACT
More efletually to provide for the support of the indi-
gent hmilies of sohliers in the Confederate army
from the county of Walker.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General Assemly
convened, That the court of conty comissioners of
a   our, t,,', Walr count e    te   are hereby tuthprized to
ssionurs  , hire such nunmb'er of slaves as in their discretion they
inny deem propel, and to re-hire the same in their coun-
ty to responsible parties, taking notes or bonds with
two goodI securities pavable in provisions, to be deliv-
ered in the yea 1863, at such times, lices, prices, in
such quantities, and of such kind as may he agreed up-
on, which provisions slhall be (listribuied to the inodi-
gent failies of soldiers in the State or Confedernto
armiy, as provided in an act to provide for the support
of the indigent thmilies of sohliers in the Confederate
army from the State of Alabama, approved November
12, 1862.
SEc. 2. Be it further enacted, That to carry into effet
the object contemplated. in the- fbreoing section, the
an said court is herehy anthorized to endoy an agent at
such price as imay be just and reasonable to make all
necessary contracts for the hiring of said slaves under
the direction of said court, and said court is hereby an-
flow agent may thorized to pay the bire of said slaves and such agent
bisal.    out of the money or funds appropriated, or which may
be approprinted to said county under the provisions of
the abrve cited act.
