Exempt from poll the State of Alabama, or of the Confederate States, as
Ia'zrh well as those who may hcreafter enter such service,
property.  shall be exempt from a poll tax, and shall also be exempt

dollars.
Widowa of do-  SHc. 2. Be it further enacted, That the widows of do-
tor exeompt on, ceased volunteers, or those who may become such during
mesiH amount. the war, shall also be exempt from taxation on property
to the amount of five hundred dollars.

To exempt the several counties in this State from im-
posing the tax for the support of the indigent fami-
lies of Volunteers, in certain cases.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by /hc Senate andl Hoe of Rep-
resentatives of the State of Alabama in General AssemblU
Fxeinet by pay- conVened, That when any court of county commission-
iSetatei. ers in any county of the State shall pay into the State
treasury a sum equal to twenty-five per cent. on the
State tax assessed in said county, then and in that case
said county shall be exemlpted from the levy and collec-
tion of the tax as required by the act  to provide a fund
for the aid of indigent families of volunteers absent in
the army, approved 11th November, 1861.
