To refund to Lancelot Johnston the imoiint of taxes improp-
erly assessed for the year:1847.
Src. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represe
tahives of the State of A4labama in General Assembly convene
That the amount of seventy-seven dollars and forty cents,
which Lancelot Johnston, a' non-resident, paid to the tax
collector of Macon county in the year 1847, who has failed,
the same being an excess of tax upon the slaves of said
Johnbton, be and the same is hereby refunded to the said
Lancelot Johnston.
Snc. 2. And be it further enacted, That the comptroller
be and he is hereby required to issue his warrant on the
state treasurer in favor of the said Lancelot Johnston for
the said sum of seventy-seven.dollars and forty cents.

Td compensate John D. Holley for ceitain services.
c. 1. Be it enacted by the cSente and House of Represen-'
tatives of the State of Alablimia in, General Assembly convened,
$150.     That the sum of one huridred and fifty dollars be and the
same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the treasury
not otherwise appropriated to John D. Holley, to compen-
sate him for pursuing and arresting a slave named Solomon,
convicted of murder; and that the comptroller be directed
to draw his warrant on the treasury for the same.

To compensate John and Joseph Ray.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by' the &enate and .house of IRepresen-
tatives of the State of Alabama in General Assembly convened,
$100.     That the comptrcller of public accounts be and he is hereby
authorised to draw his warrant on the treasurer for the sum
of 'one hundred dollars, out ofatiy money not otherwise ap-
propriated, in favor of 'John arid Joseph Ray for services
rendered in arresting' and bringing from the State of Arkan-
sas John Barnes, a fugitive from justice.
