'Po authorise the Mayorand Aldermen of (he City of'itls-
caloosaxto borrow money.
SEC. 1. Be it enactcd by the Sene and House of, Repes-ea-
tatives of the Slate of.rdlba ma in General Assenbly convened,
That the.mayor and .aldermen of the city of Tdiscaloosa May borrow
beaud they are hereby authorised, for and on behalf ot the ne1y.
city, of Tuscaloosa, to. borrow money, not exceeding the
sum of twenty thousand dollars, for the purpose of improv-
ing.said city or of makingaplankroad leading to or from
.the same; and for the security and payment thereof, to
make and execute such bonds and other . evidqnces- of the
loan aforesaid or other assurances as-may be necessary to
effect such loan ; and for the security and re-payment there-
of, to. pledge the present and future revenue of the said
city.
SEc. 2. And be itfJurther enacted, That any contracts Proceedings
or agreemen.1s.heretofore made by the. mayor and aldermen ratifed.
of the city aforesaid,.for the purpose of borrowing.money
to makb the improvements recited in the preceding.section,,
be and the same are hereby ratified and confirmed.

Suc. 1. Beit enacted by the Senath-and House of I/'e
,presentativest of the State of Alabama in General Assembly
convened, That. the powers and.duties of the city council .jwoeaml,
of the city of Montgomery, now by law vested-in and ex- herda entab-
ercisedby.the board of mayor and aldermen, shall hereafter limbed.
be vested in and exercised by two separate boards, one-to
be called the board of mayor and- aldermen and the other
the board of common council.;, the-board of mayor and al- -.
deamen .shall be constituted'as now required' .by law; the
board of common council shall be composed of six council.
men, of.which;, two shall he elected .in each, ward .by the
qualified .electors at the-same time of the election of mayor
and aldbrmen, and.shall hold .their office for one year.and-
until tlieir successors are elected and qualifiedl; the eldction
of councillors shall ibe.condocted in -the same manneras
the elbotion of aldermen as now provided by law; the board.
