To emancipate negro slave, William.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House q Re-
presentatives of the State of Alabama, in General .Assern-
bly convened, That in consideration of the faithful and me-
Emancipatee. ritorious services of the negro boy, William, as set forth in
the petition of his owner, Patrick McLoskey, of the County
of Mobile, that the said negro boy, William, is hereby eman-
cipated and set free, saving the rights of the creditors of said
rrorio.  Patrick McLoskey: ./1ndprovided, that the said McLoskey
shah first file his bond in the penalty of five hundred dollars,
iii the County Court of Mobile County, payable to the Judge
of said County, and his successors in oflice, conditioned to pay
the necessary expenses in case the said negro shall hereafter
become a county charge: wind providedfuether, that if said
William shall at any time hereafter remove beyond the limits
of Mobile County, he shall forfeit all the rights and benefits
conferred by this act, unless such removal be beyond the
limits of this State.

[No. 18.]              AN ACT
To enable the Judge of the County Court and Commissioners
of Roads and Revenue, for the county of Franklin, to sell
certain lands therein specified, and for other purposes.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re-
presentatives of the State of dlabama, in General vssem-
bIy convened, That from and after the passage of this act, it
Aulhoridto shall be lawful for the Judge of the County Court and Com-
oed. ntissioners of Roads and Revenue of the County of Franklin,
whenever they, or a majority of them, shall deen it proper to
sell, or dispoe of by exchange or otherwise, a certain tract of
land, lying in said County, known as the poor house tract,
containing one hundred and sixty acres.
Sec. 2. .And be it further enacted, That said Judge and
To PurchaseC Commissioners, as aforesaid, be, and they are hereby autho-
rized to purchase another tract of land, containing not more
than one hundred and sixty acres, lying in the County afore-
said, for the use and benefit of the poor of said County.
Sco. 3. And he itfurther enacted, That the title to said
lands so obtained by purchase or otherwise, be made to the
