[No. 51.]              AN  ACT
Incorporating the Town of Union Springs, in the County of
Macon.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of ReJp-
resentatives of the State of .11alama, in General .1ssembly
convened, That from and after the passage of this act, the
town of Union Springs, in the County of Macon, be, and the
samo is hereby incorporated, under the name and style of the Corporate
** Intendant and Council, of the ''own of Union Springs, and none and
under that name, they shall be liable to sie and be sued, may V**
plead and be impleaded. in all manner of' suits, both in law
and in equity; may have and keep a common seal, and the
same break, alter, or amend at pleasure, and in short, shall
have power to do all acts incident to bodies corporate; and
may purchase, hold, and dispose of, for the benefit of said
town, property, real, personal, or mixed, to the amount of five
thousand dollars.
Sec. 2. ./ndbe it further enacted, That the corporate lim-
its of said town of Union Springs, shall extend one half mile Limits.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That there shall be se-
ven Councillors elected for said town, between the hours of Ptection of

Cicero Broom, Angus C. Hawkins, and William H. Waugh,
any two of whom shall have power to act, and shall gi& cer-
tificates of election to the seven persons who shall have receiv-
ed the highest number of votes: Provided, The said managers, roviso.
before they enter on the duties herein assigned them, shall take
an oath before a Justice of the Peace, to conduct the said elec-
tion according to law.
Sec. 4. .1And be it further enacted, That all subsequent
elections for Councilmen in said town, shall be conducted by Future c ke-

that purpose; and it, from any cause, said election shall not
take place on the day set apart for holding the same, the board
may appoint some other day, not exceeding ten days thereafter
for holding said election; and in said elections, all free white
males twenty-one years of age, who have been for three
months next preceding said election, residents of said town of
Union Springs, shall be entitled to vote: Provided, That on
the second Monday in January, eighteen hundred and forty-
five, and on the sonme day every sitecceding year, said election for
Counciluen shall be held; first, giving at least five days notice
