Sqc. '1. 2e it Prmted by the enate and House of Represenlativws
of the Sktte o)f Alabana sn General Assembly convened. That every
person who shall 'wilfiHy and maliciously burn any dwelling house, coi.
ton house, cotton gin )house, store house, blacksmith shop, saw  mill,
houso, courthouse, jail, grist mill house, such person so offering, shall on
conviction thereof, if a slave or free person of color, suffer death, or if a
free white parson, pay such fine as the jury may assess, be imprisoned
not exceeding two years, and shall receive on hisor her bare back thirty
nine lashes.
SEc. 2. Andbeitfurther enacted, That every person who shall
Robbery.  commit the crime of robbery, and be thereof convicted, shall, if a slave
or free person of color, sutlier death, and if a white person shall be fined
in such sum as the jury may assess, be imprisoned not exceeding two
years, and shall receive on his or her bare back thirty nine lashes.
I Sec. 3. And be itfurther enacted, That every. person who shall
-Bursary   commit the crime of burglary and be thereof convicted, shall ifa slave or
free person of color, suffer death, and if a white person, shall pay auch
fine as the jury may assess, ho imprisoned not exceeding two years, and
shall reedive oa his or her bare back thirty nine lashes, and if a slave ot
free person of color suffer death.
SEC. 4. And befurt her enacted, That if any person or pereons shall
b necessary, either before after the fartcto any of the crime' Above de.
signamed, such person shall on conviction thereof, if a white person, he
fined in such sum as the jury may assess, imprisoned not exceeding two
years, and shall receive on his or her bare bek thirty nine lashes.
Sac. 5. And be it farther enacted, That if any person or persons
shall forge or countcrfeit, or cause or procuro to be forged or counterfei-
tel, or shall willingly aid or assist in Ihe forging or counterfeiting any
gold or silver coins wvhich now is or hereafter may be passing on in cir-
counatarton' culation in this State, or shall falsify, alter, pay or offer, or tander in
payment, any such forged or counterfeited coin, knowing the same to
be forged or counterfeited, every person on conviction thereof shall pay
such fine as the jury may assess, be imprisoned not exceeding two years
and shall reccive on his or her back thirty nine lasher.
SE(. 6. And be it further enacted, That if any person or persons
shall lalsify, make, forge or counterfeit, or cnjse or procure to be falsely
made, altered, forged or counterfeited, or shall willingly aid or assist in the
false making, altering, forging or counterfeiting any letters patent, gift,
grant, covenant, bond, writing obligatory, note of a Bank of any of the U.
*orgns  States, or of any hank established by law in any -one of the said States,
or branch of any Territory of the United States ; or any bill or order, or
acceptance of such bill or order, cotton receipt, receipt for the payment
of money or other article of value, promisory note, bill of exchange or
acceptance thereof, will, indenture or deed, or any instrument of writing
whatever to secure the payment or delivery of money or other article of
value, or in discharge of any debt or demand, with intention to defraud
any person or persons, or any corporation or hody.politic, or shall either
put off or offer, or cause to be offered in payment, exchange, pledge, or
.1r sale any such false, forged, altered or counterfeited bond, writingob-
ligatory, note of a bank of one of the Uniten States, or of any bank estab-
:lished by law in any one of the said States, or bank of ally Territory in
the Ugited.StAtes, or any bill or or order or acceptance di such bit-Or
