venue and roads of said county, to perform all the duties re-
quired of commissionoers appointed by an act entitled an act to
organize the county of Coosa, and to locate the seat of justice,
approved 24th December 1833, in relation to the disposal of
the scite selected for the seat of justice, and the erection of pub-
lic buildings Ior said county.
Sec. 3. .A1ndf be it further enactcd, That all laws and parts Repeal.
of laws, contravening the provisionsof this act, be, and the same
are hereby repealed.         Approved, January 9, 1835.

To revive an act antitled an not to incorporate the town of Pikeville in tie county
of Aiarion, approved.Ianuary 12, 1M27.
Section 1. Be it enacted b;- the Senate and House of Re-
presentatives of the State of .'1labama in General Assembly
convened, That the above recited act be, and the same is here- itevival,
by revived.
See, 2. ./nd be it further enactej, That it shall be the du-
ty of the justice of the peace, residing noarest the court house
in said town of 'ikeville, to superintend the elections for , r1s- Eiection of
tees to said corporation, according to the provisions of the above trustees.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the mayor and
aldermen of the town of Carrollton in Pickens county, shall
have power to levy and collect a tax, pot exceeding one pet Tax levied in
centum upon the value of all the real property in the said town, Carrollton.
vhenever the same shall be subject to taxation, not contrary
to the act of Congress, to lie assessed and collected according
to such regulations as they may deem. most expedient; they
shall also have power to levy and collect a poll tax not excee-
ding one dollar on each white male inhabitant above the age of
twenty-one years, and not exceeding forty-five, if he shall have
resided in the Said town three months immediately preceding
the time of levying the said tax ; they shall have power also to
levy and collecta tax on all gigs, ,four wheeled carriages, carts
and wagons, belonging to citizens of said town, or used within
the limits of the said incorporation, and also on all retailers of
spirituous liquors, goods, warcs, and merchandize, or either of
them, not exceeding five dollars; also a tax not exceeding one
dollar on each slave, within the limits of the said incorporation,
above the age of twelve and not exceeding fifty years, to be
paid by theperson havingsaid slaveorslaves in his employment.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That the mayor and al-
dernien of said town of Carrollton, shall have power to pass Bye-laws..
such bye-laws ind ordinances as they may deem necessary for Onficers,
the proper regulation and government of the said town, for kee.
