An Act to authorie tie County Court of Conech
Cotmty to levy altax for building a Court-flousn and jail in said couny,
and for other purposes therein mentioned.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
31t4p of Alabana in Gencral Assembly convened, That the iouinty court of
\sam~t Conecuh, be and is hereby authorized and required to lay a tax on all per-
x.    son and property in said county subject to taxation, not exceeding one third
of the state tax, which shall be collected by the tax collector in the same
manner, and for the same compensation that the state tax is collected, and
Faid into the county treasury.
Sec. 2. And be itfurther enacted, That the conty court of the aforesaid
county of Coicch, be, and is hereby autl6rized and required to appro-
.#appro priate for the building such court house and jail as may haVe been contract-
ated.  ed for, and also for other county purposes, all the monies that sbull be col-
lected in pnrsuance of the preceding section
Sec. 3. 0n0 be it further enacted, That the election precinct pointed out
Electionhy law at William lrewers, be and the dam  is hereby discontinued, and
sinct. instead thereof, Cumming's mill be and is heteby made an election precinct
in Cunccalh County.
atofJus.  Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That the town of Sparta shall be, and
eatSpsrremain the permanent seat of Joetice for the aforesaid county of Conecub.
Sec. 5. .ad be it furthe * enacted, That the county courts of the counties
oif Butler and Henry respectively, be, and they are hereby authorized and
n   r and r ed to layn tax on all persons and property subject to taxation istthe
ori  aforesnid counties respectively to be collected under the samie regulations
lay tax. aS are provided in the first s-ection of this act respecting Coneculh county,
which monies when collected shill be paid by the tax collector into the
county treaury, and shall be appropriated bythe said county courts respec-
tively to county purposes.
m,       Sec. 6. And -e iutfurther rnacted, That the commissioners heretofore
oent tappointed to tix' 11pon a seat ofjustice for Butler County be and they or a
,stice t inmajority ofthem, are hereby authorized to bly Al' such number of lots of
itler Co. the lands that they may or shall have procured for that purpoge, and to dis-
pose of ihe same, in such manner as they may think most epedieit-for the
benc9t of snid county.
Sec. 7. And be it further enacted, That there shall be an election pre-
cinct at the house of tartwell Elder in addition to those heretofore lp-

Section 1. 13e it enacted by the Snate and House of Representatives of the
State of Mlabama, in General Assembly converd, That Killis Walton, of
Lnwrence county, be, and he is hereby authorised and empowered to em-
ancipate and set free a negro man slave, aged forty years, named Tom, so
soon as the said Killis Walton, shall have executed to the chairman, or
chiefjustice of the county court of Lawrence, and his successors in office,
vbond, with sufficient security, to be approved by the county court con-,
ditioned, that said negro man slave Tom, shall never become charge'le to
this State, or any couinty or town within the same.
