                             IN ANSWER TO

 A  resolution of the House of 21st instant, relativ:e to refugees, freedmen and
                           abandoned lands.


             MAY 26, 1866.-Laid on the table and ordered to be printed.


 To the House of Representatives
   In compliance with the resolution of the House of Representatives of the 21st
 instant, I transmit herewith a report from the Secretary of War, with the ac-
 companying papers, in reference to the operations of the Bureau of, Refugees,
 Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands.
