   S!i  i have the honor to enclose copies of an account of indemnities re-
 ,eived from the British Government, or slayes per the Cometand Enco-
 tnjum, and of the statement accompanying it, Ad byt 'he* late John For-
 -yth\4ith t&' accotiIing officers of the I reasury; froth'ihh it'  bars
 ihat, on the IIth of March, 1841, he paid into the Treasury the balafhce
 .emaining in his hands of those indemnities, ainountin  to $7,965 28.
   That balance, belonged, of right, to several individuals or companies
 tiahi i- th9 stateihent'acc6mpanying the account; but, either for wani of
 a5t1hcationo fsoifi t e6f  'or of agreement as to tle division of the aiolitt
 allotted as e:ipenses, a final distribution ol it was rot made .
 'As one of those persons is now r urhg h clgliseandi a tl  btoh'ers may be
 exPect~d shorily ib do so, and as the money, being nOw in the Treasury,
 caknot beivithdfawn .*trhout an act of appropiatioi), I have the honor to
 suggest the propriety of providing, by such an act, that the balance her6-(
 opfore paid into the Treasury may be paid to the per'sons entitled to It,' t
 f      6any moneys• in the Treasury not otherwise approriated.
