93-22    CONSTITUTIONAL LAW/UNITED STATES:First Amendment
Freedoms-Freedom of Speech: Article V, Section 34, of
the Oak Ridge City Charter, which provides that no
officer of the City other than councilmen or Board of
Education members shall continue in the employment of
the City after becoming a candidate for nomination or
election to any city office, does not violate either
Article I, Section 19 of the Tennessee Constitution or
the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment of the
United States Constitution. Tenn. Const., Art. I, 519
93-22    CONSTITUTIONAL LAW/TENNESSEE:Freedom of Speech:
Article V, Section 34, of the Oak Ridge City Charter,

of the Tennessee Constitution or the Free Speech
Clause of the First Amendment of the United States

93-21    CONSTITUTIONAL LAW/TENNESSEE:Judges-Removal: As an
alternative to the procedure outlined in T.C.A.
§17-5-301, the General Assembly may proceed to remove
a judge pursuant to Article VI, Section 6 as follows:
Removal must be for cause, affecting the judge
personally or the administration of his office; the
judge must receive notice at least 10 days before
either house acts to remove him. The notice must be
accompanied by the causes for removal; the judge
must have an opportunity (hearing) to explain why he
should not be removed based on these causes; each
house must vote separately on the causes for removal.
If 2/3 of the members to which each house is entitled
vote for removal on one or more of the causes alleged,
then the judge is removed from office. Tenn. Const.,
Art. VI,  §6; T.C.A.  §17-5-101,  517-5-301,  q17-5-309,
§17-5-311,  S.[7-5-313; Op.  Ten . Atty. (en  1  6
(February 27, 1900).
