Hon. Sir - I have the honor to tsub>
mit to you the following, as a report
of.the business of my office during
the past year.
When I came into office  the State
had pending, in Douglas county, one
civil  otion, that being against Robert
S. Stevens to recovet from him the
amount 6f 417,10.00 alleged to be
the difference between the gmount re-
ceived by said Stevens from the sale
of asdven per cent. Obnds   as agent.
for the State,- in December, 'A.D. 1861,
aId the amount paid over by him, on
account of said sale.
At the May termof the District Court
for said county, the  uestions prelim-
nary to an issueupon merits were de-
termined in favor of the- State, and the
case prepared, upon my part, for trial
at the next- termo6f court. A term of
court has since passed but, on account
of the destruction of the records of
that court in the Quantrell raid, noth-
