Attorney at Law

Dear Buddy:
We are in receipt of your letter dated December 15, 1969,
wherein you request an opinion on whether taverns and liquor
stores are to be closed during elections.
Section 4 (u) of Article 11 of Act 465 of 1969 provides in
essence that all dram-shops and drinking-houses in any county,
city, town or township shall be closed during the day of any
election held therein . . . and no person shall sell or give
away any intoxicating liquors . . . . .
Act 465 contains a general repealer clause which provides that
all laws and parts of laws in conflict with Act 465 are re-
pealed. Therefore, any prior act in conflict with the above
provision would necessarily be repealed.
I trust this sufficiently answers your inquiry.
Very truly yours,
JOE PURCELL
Attorney General
