          Read thou the rock-bound tome the ages trace,
          And from them learn that mortal mind nor hand
          Of Nature's smallest force hath full command.

          Ay, knowledge springs from faith, as bursts the flower
          From hidden seed, while in that blossom's dower
          Faith lives anew. 'Twas Eden's fateful tree
          That shrouded science in dim mystery.
