VOLUME FOUR, NUMBER ONE SEPTEMBER 1965

GARDEN PARTY DELIGHTFULLY REFRESHING AND REFRESHINGLY EDUCATIONAL

The Women's Bar Association was certainly privileged to have the use
of the headquarters of the National Woman's Party and the lovely gar-
den at the Alva Belmont House, 144 Constitution Avenue, Northeast, for
our summer function on Thursday evening, July 29, 1965. The attendance
was outstanding; the punch and supper most delectable. The weather,
forecast as a most certain thunderstorm, was willed away into perfect
garden party atmosphere.

                                        The photographic slides, to-
                                        gether with a taped narration
                                        and background music, on the
                                        history of the Alva Belmont
                                        House were remarkable. These
                                        were shown by Miss Consuelo
Reyes who, as a hobby and la-
bor of love, has made this pos-
                                        sible.

                                        For those members who missed
this affair, you may visit the
Alva Belmont House from 2 to
4 p.m. every day. It is well
                                        worth your while, particularly
                                        to professional women.

WBA is indebted to Senator Joseph Tydings of Maryland who arranged
parking facilities for our members during the garden party in the Sen-
ate Office Building parking area.

In the photograph above, our President, Elizabeth Guhring, chats with
Mrs. Lennox Birckhead, National Chairman of the National Woman's Party.
