ANNUAL JUDICIAL RECEPTION HELD AT
NATIONAL LAWYER'S CLUB

   The annual WBA Judicial Reception
was held at the National Lawyer's Club
this year. Approximately 165 persons
attended the reception. Mrs. Ralphine
Staring was the Chairman of the Special
Events Committee which made all the
arrangements.

JUNE GREENE NAMED OUTSTANDING WOMAN
LAWYER OF THE YEAR

   On the occasion of the Judicial Recep-
tion, June Greene was presented the Out-
standing Woman Lawyer of the Year award.
Mrs. Greene, who practices in the Dis-
t~o of Columbia and Maryland, is cur-
fently the only woman serving on the Bar
Examination Committee of the District of
Columbia,

    PALCO BENEFIT RESCHEDULED

    The Pan American Liaison Committee of
Women's Organizations, Inc, will sponsor
an afternoon tea, including a fashion
show and Latin American dances, at three
o'clock on May 29, 1965 at the Embassy
of Brazil. This is the organization's
rescheduled annual benefit for their
educational fund.
   Tickets will be $3.00 and WBA members
may order them by calling Margaret
Laurence, office ME 8-5595; or Mrs. Roy
L. Malcolm, Chairman  FE 7-9393.

      FEDERAL PROBATION SYSTEM
 .' The Federal Probation System consists
 of 173 offices serving all district
 courts in the 50 States, the District
 of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the
 Virgin Islands. It has a staff of 506
 probation officers, both supervisory and
 investigative who may work together on
 the development of presenting investiga-
 tion reports and in working out plans for
 supervision. Supervision of a proba-
 tioner or parolee may be transferred to
 another field office if a person will
benefit from being in another district.

 currently practicing in D.C. and Maryland
 specializing in family law, immigration
 and tariff and trade work in commercial
 fishing field.

   Candidate: Louise O'Neil
   Academic training: LLB National Col-
lege of Law, George Washington University.
   WBA activities: Past chairman Status
of Women committee, Legislative and
Nominating committees, among others.
   Other professional activities: Teacher
Law for Laymen at YWCA; member ABA,
serving on Government Contract committee;
member American Patent Law and Federal Bar
Associations; Listed in Who's Who of
American Women and Who's Who in Southeast
Employment: Department bf Justice, Civil
Division, Patent Section as patent lawyer;
extensive litigation work before Court of
Claims.

         OFFICE: VICE PRESIDENT

   Candidate: Joyce Capps
   Academic training: A.B. and LLB,
George Washington University.
   WBA activities: Currently member of
Board of Directors and Program chairman;
member of Legislative and Equal Status
of Women committees.
   Other professional activities: Member
National Association of Women Lawyers;
Secretary of local chapter American Trial
Lawyers Association; member of Executive
